When an idea has to work
An idea is easy until it has a job to do. Then it gets interesting.
Read the essayOn travel, and why the ordinary things are the ones worth noticing.
I’m curious about what feels ordinary somewhere else.
Every trip has its big sights, and they are easy to remember. The small things stay with me longer.
I’m curious about what feels ordinary somewhere else, like how fast a place moves or what everyone there is simply expected to know. Nobody who lives there would notice those things.
My own routines feel natural because they are familiar. Seeing a different arrangement can show me that something I treated as fixed was really a choice.
I come home with observations as well as photographs, and what I most want to know is why a place felt different.
Thanks for reading.
